Listen To The Still, Small Voice Within

By Anne Trimble

Where is your prayer closet? Do you have a quiet place where you and God connect every day? If not, you should claim one!

During his ministry on Earth, Jesus went up to the mountain every day before dawn to talk with His Father. We believe these times helped Jesus be God and man at the same time. He spent time talking everything over with the Father, who gave Him understanding and direction.

The Bible should be considered the written Word of God. In it, God reveals that he imparted our spirit to to us after we asked the Holy Spirit to come and fill us. All this is described in Acts 2.

There is something you have to do in order to enable God to connect with you through the manifestation of His still little voice: First, you should know Him through the Bible. God will never ever contradict what He has said in the Bible. So you must know what is in the Bible, otherwise you will not if you are able to hear his still small voice-or if, in fact, you are listening to your own voice, your conscience or demons whispering to you.

One mistake often made in attempting to determine God's quieter voice in our hearts is to believe that we can rely on his modern-day "prophets" to contact Him on our behalf. And while this may have been true when it came to godly prophets who had the capacity to accurately confirm His Word, there are plenty of false prophets these days who can quite easily lead us astray. Jesus cautioned that they would be quite a few in the last days.

For example, Joel Osteen has written, Your Best Life Now - but who could ever say this is our "best life now" when our citizenship actually is in Heaven? Rick Warren is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, meaning his ultimate cooperation has been purchased by the worldly powers that be, and is an adviser to former President Bill Clinton as well as to the universalist One Faith Foundation that was established by former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair. My prayer through the years as I've watched false prophets take a prominent place in the organized church today, is that these men would understand and repent from what they are doing to lead the church astray.
